With American football, we have the instant replay. If a call is disputed, they can review the play, in slow motion if needed. The teams are allowed to challenge calls. This cuts down on favoritism, and on mistakes. There isn't much animosity toward the referees any more, as any play can be checked. Not all American inovations are bad......*wink*
