How to re-install granite counter tops?

We have a brand new granite counter top on top of old warped cabinets and i would like to use the existing granite to put on top of new cabinets. The previous owner we believe was trying to save money maybe.. they painted the cabinets white for a country look and then put brand new granite on top of the old cabinets well we would like to update the cabinets and reuse the granite so we dont have to spend a fortune for the counter. Is this possible?
