Should I do a system restore?

So, I was trying to record something on my laptop. I using a program like TuneBite or something like that. (I was trying to convert .wma to .mp3). Anyways, I decided not to go through with it so I completely closed the application, uninstalled it, and restarted my computer. Then, when I turned it on, I hear a 'POP' noise from my speakers. I'm like WTFFF? So, I'm freaking out here because there's no sound from my computer..I can't hear anything!! I have no idea what to do. Seriously, if my dad finds out, he's gonna freak out. I've been researching and I think I should do a System Restore. But, I don't know if it'll mess it up more. Some people have said it crashes your computer, I definitely don't want anything to happen. Idk, I'm probably gonna have to tell my dad anyways. I just need to know more about the System Restore thing. OK so any suggestions on what I should do??? Please and THANKS!
